Welcome to Proton Finishing –
we grow, develop and succeed together.

Our history

Our history began in 1990 when our founder Leif Malveholm acquired several businesses which quickly grew into an entire industrial group. The base consisted of three profitable surface treatment companies, and over time more and more companies were added to the group, both in Sweden and in Bröndby, Denmark. Eventually, all units were given the same name – Proton Finishing.

The Proton Finishing business area has developed strongly over many years, but not every venture has not always been a success. Sometimes market conditions change and sometimes acquisitions do not develop in the desired way. But each venture has taught us important lessons that we carry with us in our development. And perhaps it is precisely the opportunity thinking and flexibility – but also the power to act and the ability to take quick action – that has made Proton Finishing one of Europe’s leading suppliers in surface treatment today.

Although we continue to grow, it is always important for us to preserve the family core that has been with us through the years. We want to protect the company, our people and the opportunity for individuals to to grow. This is a perfect combination with the strength of being part of a group and gives us an advantage over our competitors. Over the years, we have been able to utilise the expertise in technology, service, quality and the environment to develop our business. As environmental requirements have become more stringent, we have stayed ahead of the curve and made the transition easier thanks to our expertise and drive – together with a large group behind us. Today we are we are helping to lead the Swedish surface treatment industry into the future.
